Writing the Other

What is the “other” in this context? Anyone you’re not. Writing other cultures, socioeconomic classes, ethnicities, beliefs, abilities, and so on is just plain hard. A lot of people either don’t write the other, or they guess at what the other’s life is like–and very often fail. So, let me (and the Internet’s denizens) help. (Please send additions!
